Purpose and Responsibilities of the Role

The School Feeding Program Coordinator will serve as a critical link between national policy and local implementation. Reporting directly to the Home Grown School Feeding Project Manager, the Coordinator will be responsible for developing and overseeing quarterly action plans for the school feeding program, ensuring that they align with national operational guidelines and policies.

A key responsibility will be supervising the implementation of the program in all schools within the assigned district, monitoring progress, and resolving any challenges that may arise. The Coordinator will also collaborate closely with school leaders, local authorities, procurement officers, nutritionists, and community members to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the program.

One of the fundamental aspects of the role includes tracking student attendance, meal distribution, and food inventory using the School Data Management System (SDMS). Coordinators will also be expected to produce comprehensive narrative and financial reports for submission to MINEDUC and other relevant institutions, ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement of the program.

Beyond operational duties, the Coordinator will lead training workshops on food safety, hygiene, and nutrition for school staff, cooks, and food handlers. They will mobilize community support, encouraging parents and local stakeholders to contribute to the sustainability of the school feeding program. Moreover, they will support the establishment of governance structures and participate in research and evaluations aimed at enhancing the program’s impact.

Qualifications and Experience

To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess strong academic credentials and relevant work experience. The required qualifications include:

• Master’s Degree in Project Management, Public Health, Nutrition, Agriculture, Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration, or Law with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the above fields with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
